Food & Drink scores

How is the Yumpingo food score calculated?

yumpingo

The Food and drink shows all the data on your menu items. It is updated in real-time depending on the selected date range.

  • Just like NPS, the food score is a scale from -100 to +100. However, unlike NPS, the lowest score displayed is 0. If a dish has a 0 score, this means that 50% or more of customers who rated it, didn't like it (thumbs down).
  • See the example below:
    • When a guest rates a dish it's a weighted calculation, with the most weight on the recommend. A thumbs down on any metric is -1 and thumbs up is +1.
    • For example, if you have two thumbs down and one thumbs up on recommended dishes and thumbs up on look, taste, portion, and value it's calculated as shown below.

  • Dish 1 & 2: Thumbs down to recommend (60% x -1) + positive look, taste portion & value: (10% + 10% + 10% + 10% x 1) = -20.
  • Dish 3: thumbs up to recommend (60% x 1) + positive look, taste portion & value: (10% + 10% + 10% + 10% x 1) = 100
  • So -20 (Dish 1) + -20 (dish 2) + 100 (dish 3) = 60
  • 3 dishes = 300
  • 60/300 = 20 weighted food score

Category/item/venue

View dish and drink related data:

  • by venue (if your user login has brand-level permissions)

  • by menu category (e.g. starters, mains, sides)

  • by individual menu item (e.g. pepperoni pizza, fries)

  • by service style (delivery, table service)

Individual menu items

  • Click into any individual dish to see specific details.
  • A 'radar graph' shows how the dish is performing on look, taste, portion and value compared to other venues. This can show if a dish execution issue is a problem at one or multiple venues.
  • Dish comments can give some more colour to the scores and provide insight into strengths or weakness of the dish

Highlights Graph

There are 3 scores to keep note of on this graph: Current, Previous baseline

  1. Current - this is currently how the selected venue is doing in the period selected is performing.
  2.  Previous- this is the score of the same venue over the previous selected period. For example, if you selected Venue X for a period of 6 months from July-December, the previous score would represent the food scores at Venue X for the previous 6 months (January -June)
  3. Baseline - This is the same score calculations as current but for all the venues within the brand. This can help compare how a specific venue is doing against the whole brand. If a venue score is much lower than the other venues in the brand, this would be considered an underperforming venue and needs special attention to discover why.

TIP: Small data samples ( low numbers of reviews) will give extreme scores - they could be very good or very bad! Always check how many reviews a score is based on. If it is based on less than 15 reviews, expand your date range to include more data. If there is no more data available, wait until you have collected more reviews for that dish before taking any action.
